Our leadership in the field of sustainable design has earned 4 SABMag Canadian Green Building Awards, the international Holcim Foundation Award for Sustainable Design, and we have more than 28 LEED® or equivalent projects either completed or under construction.

Culture and Values

The ideals of sustainable practice reach beyond the sphere of responsible practice and should inform the conceptual essence of each work of architecture. We see sustainable design as a provocation for rethinking the art of architecture. In our work, environmentally conscious design has become integral to the formulation of architectural ideas and to the spatial experience embodied in each completed project.

Technical Expertise and Design Excellence

Our technical expertise is far-reaching, with a deep knowledge of industry construction standards and a thorough awareness of the most current building technologies. Particular emphasis is placed on energy-efficient design and durable buildings.

Working with You

Integral to our design methodology is working collaboratively with our clients and consultants through a professionally facilitated Integrated Design Process. Together, we develop a shared vision for the project that successfully incorporates the concerns of all parties while achieving an exceptional level of design excellence.

Leadership in Sustainable Design

As pioneers in sustainable architectural practices, Teeple Architects strives to incorporate "green" initiatives into all of our projects through such innovative technologies as passive cooling and lighting, complex energy modelling, geothermal energy, water efficiency, adaptive reuse and sustainable landscape design. Working as a team with our consultants and clients, we establish the priorities and develop practical strategies for sustainability that offer the greatest long-term value for the client.

We imagined a space that is playful, has a sense of energy, is forward looking and that inspires, all while protecting quiet spaces for reflection and study and delivering a dynamic and responsive space to the community. Teeple Architects were attuned to the experience we articulated and expressed it in their architectural design. THE RESULT IS PURE MAGIC.
Alannah d’Ailly, Manager, Circulation Services, Waterloo Public Library

Teeple’s design process focuses, from the beginning, on establishing a dialogue between designers, clients and consultants. They worked diligently to understand and incorporate Langara’s wishes into their design, eventually producing a design which reflected both our needs and architectural vision.
Deanna Douglas, Busar, Langara College, Vancouver

Having years of experience working in a post secondary environment, Teeple Architects were able to successfully plan and think through the entire process from concept to completion, bringing our project in on time and on budget. Their insight and knowledge actually made the entire process very enjoyable.
Ralph April, Associate Vice President Facilities, Durham College, Oshawa

The team worked together seamlessly to create a building that addressed all of our needs within an exceptional and innovative design. The building respects its surroundings and creates interior and exterior, formal and informal learning spaces. Their profound understanding of complex academic programs, campus planning and technical building systems has resulted in excellent projects.
George Qubty, Director, Facilities Engineering, Physical Plant & Capital Planning Services, University of Western Ontario, London

The public has been astonished by the honesty and openness of the new facility. They have found the architecture to be accessible, receptive, and engaging while at the same time being inspired by a new understanding of the significance, dignity, and value of the work of the organization that the facility frames and demonstrates.
Robert Steven, Culture and Heritage Manager, Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, Alberta

Along with his attention to detail, Teeple’s Scarpa-esque articulation of materiality often brings a palpable beauty to the work – reminding us that the intrinsic nature of the physical material is the generative source of the work. Like a sculptor, he works the materials directly and intimately revealing his commitment to an authenticity in the material qualities that more broadly points to the importance of an authenticity in all architecture.
Thom Mayne, Founder and Design Director, Morphosis, Los Angeles
